Young scientists a priority for the Neuroimaging Professional Interest Area
(30/09/2010)
The Neuroimaging Professional Interest Area (NIPIA) was one of the first PIAs organized by ISTAART members. Started in November 2009, this PIA seeks to develop and advance clinical and research applications of brain imaging in Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. This group, first known as the Neuroimaging Working Group, is directly responsible for the Alzheimer’s Imaging Consortium (AIC), which originated in 2002.
"With the birth of ISTAART and the opportunity to set up thematic sections, it became natural for the Neuroimaging Working Group to transition into a PIA," said Giovanni Frisoni, NPIA Chair. "As a PIA this group will gain visibility and an international platform to issue statements and guidelines."
The NIPIA is committed to developing young scientists and welcomes their contributions. Annually, at least one young scientist will be selected as a member of the executive committee. The NPIA also sponsors AIC awards that are open to young investigators, including the Best Paper in Neuroimaging, Best Poster and Oral Presentation, as well as scholarships to attend the conference.
